Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitler's heroic effort to re-establish Germany as a central power through Nazism brutally murdered innocents for ethnic superiority. Hitler's rough childhood laid the foundations for his motivation to gain dominance. With the death of his father, Hitler at age 13 was left as the only man in the household. Left to fulfill his fathers dutys, Hitler became very independent. After his mother died, Hitler spent four years living on the streets of Vienna, selling postcards of his artwork to make a little money. Young Hitler dreamed of becoming an artist, but when his dreams were crushed by denial from Vienna Academy of Art twice, he began to focus on a more realistic desire. He joined the Germany army once WWI was declared, and as a soldier, Hitler picked up his anti-semitism and his hatred began. Distraught by the conclusion of WWI, he felt as if the leaders of Germany abandoned the natonalistic commitment made when they entered the first World War. Determined to right the wrong of WWI, Hitler joined a small antisemitic party called the German Worker's Party as the 55th member, and soon he became the leader.
Rise of NazismTotalitarian regime of the National Socialists had total control over Germany including the machinery and occupation of territory. This, combined with a deeply rooted anti-Semitism in Christian countries in Europe, gave birth to the Holocaust. The unsatisfying conclusion of World War I left Germany in desperartion of nationalism. To gain nationalism, Hitler worked up the ranks to create a nation to be proud of, which in his mind, was a country of pure superiors not including the Jewish, the crippled, homosexuals, gypsies and Jehovah's Wittnesses. With the promise to "restore honor" to Germany, Nazis pursued their political aims with aggressive propoganda and violence. In the 1932 elections, the Nazi party becomes the strongest party and in 1933, Adolf Hitler is named Reich chancellor. Hitler began to enforce restrictions on civil rights and freedoms and he eventually starts rule without parliament. Soon, Hitler begins to rule Germany under a dictatorship with the power of the Nazi party.
