Zionism:Zionism is a movement for the reestablishment, development, and protection of a Jewish nation in Israel. Many promises were made involving the Palestine over who will be allowed to live their between the Arabs and Jews. Since Roman times Jews wanted to return to Palestine which they viewd as a sacred land. The main goal of the Jews was to rebuild a Jewish state in Palestine. Theodor Herzl dealt with anti-Semitism in Europe and was the founder of the Zionist movement. In the 1930’s anti-Semitism in Germany and Europe left Jews to have to move to the Palestine, causing the conflict of whose land was the Palestine between the Arabs and Jews. |
Balfour Declaration: During World War I the allies promised the Arabs their own kingdoms in former Ottoman Lands including Palestine. But in 1917 the British issued the Belfour Declaration to win support of European Jews. This was the British supporting the idea of setting up a national home for the Jews. This shows why British can be given the blame for setting the stage for conflict between Arabs and the Jews. In the 1930’s when anti-Semitism stuck in Germany and Europe this left the Jews with no other choice then to have to move to the Palestine were their religion was accepted. Arabs welcomed them at first but as an overwhelming amount came to the Palestine tensions rose between the Jews and the Arabs grew. The Palestine is the land the Jews called Israel but also the land of the Arabs. Because of the promises made by the British the Arabs and Jews constantly fight over the Palestine even still to this day. |
