Emperor Hirohito:
Hirohito was born in Japan on April 29, 1901. Hirohito became emperor after his father died in December of 1926. Hirohito became the
124th emperor of Japan and was looked at by the people of Japan as a god. Because Hirohito was very young when he became emperor he lacked experience and didn’t make the best emperor. During his time as emperor he experienced a run in with a group of officers in the Japanese Army who were against the political leaders of Japan. In February of 1936 Hirohito ordered his senior officer to put the rebellion down by executing that group of officers. Japan often blamed Hirohito for the modernization that was unwanted by the people and for the poverty that Japan dealt with during the Great Depression. Hirohito supported the war against and the invasion of Manchuria in 1937. This played an effect on how the people of Japan looked at him. He also helped China to become more furious with Japan by supporting the attack of Manchuria. Hirohito also approved the attack on Pearl Harbor that led to Japan and the United States being drawn into the Second World War. The people of Japan had mixed feelings of Hirohito but he was definitely not the best emperor of Japan because of his lack of control. Hirohito loved to study marine biology and had many other hobbies. Hirohito died after an ilness on January 7, 1989.
